No plastic Christmas balls for me
During my internship decades ago in a Christmas ball factory, I became acquainted with the real craft: glass Christmas balls that are blown by mouth, made of glass and mirrored on the inside with liquid silver. The colors were still handmade, without chemical toxic substances, and all decorations were painted by hand. This inspired me to make my own art on glass Christmas balls. Here you can see one of the remaining Christmas balls, which I'm now selling for a good cause.
Unfortunately, artisanal glass Christmas balls are rare these days. They are now mostly machine-made, often in China, and painted with chemical paints and decorated with a mold. Glass is harder to find because many people prefer plastic balls that don't break. Still, I keep longing for those beautiful, handmade Christmas balls in all shapes and colors.

ze zijn heel mooi. Ik vind die oude ballen van vroeger mooier moet ik zeggen. Mijn 1e kerstboom is 59 jaar geleden en daar heb ik nog wat ballen en leuke dingen van.
