#SPOORWEGSTATION 😍 Station Meppel is the railway station in the Dutch city #Meppel . It was put into operation on October 1, 1867 with the opening of the #spoorlijn Zwolle — Meppel. This was part of the state line A constructed in 1865-1868 by the State of the Netherlands, from Arnhem to Leeuwarden.
In 1868, the Meppel — Heerenveen — Leeuwarden connection was completed, giving the Frisian capital a direct rail link with the rest of the country. In 1870, the Meppel — Hoogeveen — Assen — Groningen was also completed, with which both Drenthe, Groningen and Friesland were connected to Zwolle via Meppel. Since then, these connections have been the main links in rail traffic to and from the north of the Netherlands. At Meppel station, little has been changed over the years, so that it is still largely in its original state.
The railway station of Meppel, built in 1865, is one of the Standard Stations of the State Railways. It is of the renewed version third class, to which station Zuidbroek (from the same year) belongs.
The station has a number of amenities, such as five ticket machines, a kiosk (without a counter function since 2011), a bicycle shop (with possibility of guarded storage) and a large unguarded bicycle storage (delivered April 2011). The platform tracks are covered and equipped with a covered waiting area with refreshment automation. Right next to the train station is the bus station.
The regular train run, also of trains passing by Meppel, takes place along the island platform (tracks 2 and 3). Since 29 April 2013, sprinters have been driving between Meppel and Leeuwarden on weekdays. These use track 1 on the side platform, which has been raised for this purpose. [2] [3]

In 2016, the station building was built in the original yellow-brown #kleurstelling restored, after years of being completely white.
