Born on August 8, 1929 in Barbacoas state Aragua, Simon Díaz was the one who rescued for Venezuela the plain tune or milking tune.

Uncle Simon's greatest legacy is in his tunes in which he evoked with great particularity the immense beauty of the Venezuelan plains, through which he rescued the work and milking songs of the fields, making them known and respected all over the world, since he dedicated himself entirely to making it a genre.

Among his most iconic songs are:
* Full Moon Tune.
* My querencia.
* Old horse.
As Caballo Viejo is the song that traveled the world, there are about 300 versions in 12 languages.

Caballo Viejo is a song to autumn love, an afternoon hymn in love with a man. This song has been sung in almost every language in the world and professionally recorded more than 80 times.

Simon Díaz or Uncle Simón was one of the most respected folklorist in Venezuela and all of South America.
He dies in 2014.
