On the way: Passy, St Gervais, Megève, Albertville, St Jean de Maurienne, Saint-Sorlin d'Arves, Col de la Croix de Fer 2064 metres.

My gang members went home after a week of hiking in the mountains. I'm heading towards Drôme to my next appointment. The annual herbal internship in Bellegarde and Diois. And right now I have time and desire to write.

In Albertville, the GPS wants to take me to Bellegarde. I understand Madame Mio, how can she know that a person sometimes doubts and lags and does not always want to go straight on. So I don't drive to Chambery. I drive to St Jean and Maurienne. Full into the mountains. Bird's eye view is the straight line to Bellegarde but there is a turtleneck of 2000 meters high in between.

In St Jean before the climb starts, I do some small shopping at Carrefour, even in the hope of finding free internet. Unfortunately or.. luckily no connection and so without Wifi up. The motorhome puffs and blows but turns out to be in condition. Col de la Croix de Fer is a beautiful, long climb with ups and downs. The ascent from St Jean is 26.5 kilometers long and with an average gradient of 5.6% bridges a height difference of 1484 meters.
