I almost missed it anyway! Open beekeeping day around the corner. That's when you don't take the time to read the paper. But luckily I watched Yoors early afternoon and read Elise's blog. Soon on the bike and on to De Zuid. I've come by a lot of times, but always at times when there was no one to tell.

When I arrive, the sun is full in the clearing in the bush where the hives are. So it is a hustle and bustle of interest when it comes to bees, butterflies and all kinds of other insects. The beekeepers have done their best to grow interesting plants on the heavy clay soil. That was not yet easy is just explained. The damselfish in the green still strike best. She also explains that she wants to make people aware that it is important for insects that they do not get too caught by us humans. Prefer not to clean up that dead tree, leave the nettles, they are important for all kinds of natural processes. And then we might find it sloppy, but nature needs these places to keep the cycle intact.

A table full of beautiful leaflets.

And also for the children a fun coloring page and bags of seed.

The beekeeper explains to me how to get to the other beekeeper and I'll continue soon, because the open day is almost over. Off to the Old East.
