Ownership, Heritage and Responsibility.
Fehu and Othilla are two runes of the Elder Futhark. They both stand for possession in a way, but in very different ways.
Fehu
Fehu literally stands for “Vee”, those cute little animals that give such fine wool, and healthy milk! And also very useful horns, not to mention the great taste of their cadaver when properly prepared.
But what is the power behind the concept? Remember, for the early Germanans, cattle were the enumeration of their material prosperity. A large herd meant a lot of jewelry (horns, bone etc.), lots of fur and wool, and enough food to support many people. If you didn't have your own goat, you were really a prolete, and if you had a big healthy herd, you were capitalist.
In modern use, Fehu is often seen as a reference to material prosperity, for obvious reasons. But a broader association involves energy. As the flesh of the ox nourishes the body, energy nourishes the mind, in short. There are many possible associations to make at Fehu, the easiest thing is probably to get to know the famous and beloved Wanen Freya and Freyr. They seem to me most connected to all aspects of Fehu.
