Even before the sun had come up, I was standing next to my bed. Ready for the second day of diving. Let day 2 come! Still there were some tensions in my body. Still a bit nervous if we had to take off our glasses underwater on diving day 2.
Around 08:30 we were again neatly arrived at our diving school. We could start preparing our diving gear right away. We dealt with this on class day 1 and now we also know how to prepare a diving equipment. Once busy my nerves became a little less. After we finished our diving equipment we got the briefing for our first dive. We first went back into the shallower water to repeat some exercises. Phew, weather exercises. Fortunately, she did not call the exercise of putting off the mask under water. We got a dive computer on, so that we could keep an eye on the depth and the mandatory safety stop during the dive.
We swam directly to a little deeper water where we would make the descent. We came to a depth of about 6 meters. From this depth we had to swim upwards with 1 breath. The instructor swam along and determined the correct speed. We weren't allowed to go up too fast, because we simulated a so-called emergency ascension. The moment you would breathe again during the ascent you were 'off' and you had to. First the two men went and then it was my turn. What an end that was! The first time I wasn't even halfway there and I had to take a breath again. So not met. The second time I had to smuggle very light at the last 2 meters. Cough and tasting I came out. Above the water I had to blow my cardigan with my mouth to create buoyancy. Barely time to catch his breath, the instructor indicated that we were going to descend again. We started the descent and came to the depth of about 12.5 meters. We have made a beautiful dive and seen a lot of beautiful fish. Taking off to the surface, we also attached an exercise to. For example, I had to take off my breathing device underwater and grab my buddy's extra breathing device. We made an ascent to the surface together in this way. This was also a bit exciting, because I always had the feeling that the mouthpiece of this breathing apparatus wanted to flop out of my mouth! At the moment we came up I literally thought: 'so, we survived that'. Haha.
We went back to the diving school. It was actually lunch break, but the diving instructor said that we were going to get ready for our second dive. We had to pack and replenish our stuff and load it in a van. Super cool, we went to another location! We arrived at the location Tugboat and here we got another briefing with what we were going to do.
Unfortunately I was told here that we were going to do another exercise underwater. That's where my stress level went up again. Fortunately, I could choose whether to do this exercise immediately or at the end of the dive. Let's do this exercise right away, because then we've only had it.
At the location we first had to put on our diving equipment from the van. This was already a whole happening in itself. Packed and collapsed we walked to the water. Another relief at the moment you hit the water with such heavy equipment. First we did on the surface exercises with a compas/navigator.
Ready to descend! We went underwater at a depth of about 6 meters. Here came first the annoying glasses exercise. The men went before me, but after that it was my turn. The instructor pointed to me and I felt my heart pounding again. Fortunately, she was super patient and promised me underwater that it was the last time I had to take off my glasses with such an exercise. My partner has also asked me several times what I find so exciting about taking off my glasses. Good question, yes really no idea what makes me find this so exciting. Miraculously during this last exercise I was very quiet and I cleared a full pair of glasses at a depth of 6 meters.
We continued with our dive and descent deeper and deeper. We went so deep until we reached the depth of 18 meters.
This is the depth you can swim with your Padi Open Water. At this depth I occasionally got a little bit of panic. I found the idea that I was 18 meters under water very exciting. Don't think too much about it and enjoy the surroundings. That really helped me stay calm.. At the end of the dive we came to pillars of a large jetty. This was also very cool to see. Because we were still busy with the exercises we did not swim until the sunken 'tugboat'. Because of our oxygen, we couldn't get this anymore..
After the ascent I felt great again. What a cool dive and I just swam 18 meters underwater! How bizarre! On the surface we had to do the last exercise, namely take off our entire equipment and put it back on. This in itself was not such a very difficult exercise. What made it difficult is the weight belt that you eventually have to throw back on. We had to do this exercise under water on the first day. I found this much worse! After we had all done this exercise, we were done with our second dive day.
Tired, but certainly satisfied I felt. Since we skipped the lunch break there was a whole day left. We found the layout very nice, because so we had some to the afternoon. Also in the evening we were much less tired than the first day, where we did have a lunch break.
Two days of diving are already up and 1 day to go. Full of expectation and excitement I was looking forward to diving day 3. And oh, how wonderful I slept with an occasional floating/floating feeling in my body!
