The Tournament of Roses Parade was held for the first time on January 1, 1890 in Pasadena, California, 13 kilometers (8 miles) north of Downtown Los Angeles.
It is the most popular annual parade in the United States, held every new year's day, except when the new year falls on sundays. In that case, the tournament is held on the following Monday, January 2. This situation occurred for the first time in 1893.
January 1, 2021 parade canceled due to COVID-19 pandemic.
It is believed that by 2022 the theme will be Dream, Believe, Achieve - Dream, Create, Reach.
