Today we drove to La Salvetat Peyrales again. It was supposed to be 31 degrees, so a spot by the water wasn't a superfluous luxury and of course we wanted to taste the atmosphere again.

I looked around and to the left of me I saw a big family at the weekly picnic. Grandma (at least 85) with her children and followers and of course all grandchildren. The children and grandchildren took good care of grandma: everything was handed and bragged at the table. Her glass didn't get empty: her glass was always donated.

The meal was over, it was time to blow. One of the sons put a lazy garden chair, a small stool in front of it. Two adults helped grandma upright and supported her to the lazy chair in the run. Grandma got a towel over her belly and shoulders and was then left alone after some jokes back and forth.
It was time for grandma to rest.

While grandma was sleeping for almost two hours, the rest of the family was quaying at a short distance. Occasionally, one went to see Grandma, to lovingly lay her blanket well, let her hair sleep further.

After sleeping, Grandma was helped up and eaten again at the picnic table.

I loved it so powerful to see how this family interacted with their mother/grandma.
Grandma had taken care of her children and grandchildren until she couldn't do it anymore, and now her children and grandchildren took care of her.

It is very common in France, especially in the countryside, to take care of “the older”. There are hardly any retirement homes, there's hardly anyone who wants to bring their parent there either. Many times prefer to move in with their parents or let their parents move in.

I think it's heartwarming. I quietly hope that we can spend our old age with our children so lovingly..
