Paul began as a Christian persecutor

The life story of Paul as we know it begins with a description in the Bible in the book of Acts. There we read that as a righteous Jew — then still called Saul — he more or less persecuted the believers of that (in his eyes remarkable) sect on fire and sword.

He went on his way to the Syrian capital Damascus to give a firm lesson to Christians. Many believers would undoubtedly have found their death, just like Stephen before.
