Pets and warmth in the car
Never leave your dog in the car in warm weather!
A stationary car gets hot very quickly in the sun, often up to 50 degrees, even if the windows are slightly open. Contrary to popular belief, it is usually not the lack of oxygen that the dog succumbs to, but overheating, especially of the brain. You can compare this effect with the effect of a very high fever. If there's really no other option: put the car in the shade, under trees or in a carport. Open the windows against each other and, above all, don't stay away for too long.
Do you find an overheated dog in a car? Then take the dog out, gently douse the animal with water (not too cold)!) and possibly cover it with a wet cloth (not too cold due to the risk of hypothermia).
Do you find a dog that has been left behind in a car in warm weather and, in your opinion, is suffering from the circumstances? Warn the owner. If this does not work, call the police (0900 - 8844) or the national number 144.
