Photo Contests and GuruSHOTS
How often are you asked to vote for a photo? When you are on facebook, that happens regularly. A friend or family member participates in a photo contest and asks you to vote for her photo. This is often an entire company where you also have to fill in all kinds of data about yourself, take part in a survey or find the intended picture with no possibility. But you like to do a friend a favor and assume that you are then bombed with unsolicited advertising and e-mails from the company that wrote out the photo contest. And if you're unlucky from a whole bunch of other companies and products that now apparently fall into the category you're interested in.
By chance I ended up at GuruShots, a site for professionals and amateur photographers. On this site there are quite a number of Challenges, challenges to take part in a competition with prizes with your best pictures around a particular subject. You can post 4 photos per challenge. They will be on your own challenge list where you can also see how long the challenge lasts and how many votes which photo has received.
You don't have to beg for votes anywhere, because voting is done within the site, by the participants. You can vote on photos from your own challenge as well as those from other challenges. To make everything as fair as possible, the pictures randem are displayed without mentioning the creator. Of course, your own picture is not listed. You can vote as many times as you want and that benefits you.
On a clock you can see the status of your Exposure Bones, which can cause your photos to be displayed more often or higher in the list. You earn the bones by voting in your own challenge. So the more you vote, the more chance you have to collect votes with your photo.
