Every year I enjoy the activity in my garden at the insect hotels. Many insects find their way to find shelter there . Mostly masonry bees are drawn to the garden with an insect hotel. They provide more biodiversity in our garden. Especially fruit trees are very happy to be pollinated by these bees.

Now I had 2 old insect hotels, and they fell apart from misery. Now I got two new insect hotels (for sale at Action not sponsored) I find them a bit colorless. If bees are based on bright colours then a colourful hotel seems more attractive... At least it makes me happy..

Reason for me to pimp them! Decopatchen is the best option for me. There are so many nice species, there is always something for you. These 2 papers come from the newer collection.. so super sexy for the critters!

I first paint the surface white with chalk paint. This creates a fresher look of the decopatch paper. I measure out the large pieces and stick in its entirety. For that I put a thin layer of decopatch glue on the wood and stick the paper to it. Smooth the paper from the inside out. Smaller pieces I cut a bit more for like eg. a strip on the front. So I can quite easily paste these parts.

They turned out great, I really like the idea of an insect hotel. I have not seen them here before, but I will keep an eye out for them.

Leuk en fleurig voor de bijtjes!
