Playing with construction material is good for the children's development. What do children learn by playing with construction materials? They learn: Working together, thinking up solutions, making connections: playing and experimenting with different construction materials is extremely educational and valuable for development.
It was nice that we were allowed to test a box of material from #totum This box contains blocks with holes, connectors, wheels, stick and a number of plastic additives. The box is suitable from 3 years. Describes belowIneke van der Linde how this experience with this construction material went out in the host parent shelter. Check out the 2 fun videos made here!
Ineke tells:This time we can test a super fun construction box ofToTum. On the pictures below you can see what is in this box.
It says 3+ on the box, but I let a boy of just under 2 years of age play with it very quietly at the table and under supervision. Out of curiosity. His fine motor skills are very good. This little boy likes that. So nice, that he is building more than half an hour with it. Pen out, pen in. Cap on it. Cap off. Wheel on or off. Very nice to see.
After that, a just 4-year-old boy can play with it. Also this boy surprised me positively. He too is very captivated and can “read” and make the first drawings/actions of the aircraft himself.
Now the interest of two 8 year old boys is aroused and soon all 3 are working together and talking together.
It is built according to drawing. A pinkfish is also built to imagination and heart content. A 6-year-old girl sees her chance clean when the boys are ready. She fantasizes and builds this vehicle in a few minutes. (see 9th photo below)
Nice inspiration from Totum
