PAN-Nederland examined fifteen trays of Dutch strawberries for pesticides in June. The strawberries came from the supermarkets, AH, Aldi, Coop, Jumbo and Lidl in different municipalities. Thirteen different pesticides have been found in the fifteen samples. On average, a sample contains 3.5 different residues.

Growing strawberries and other small fruits without chemical pesticides: it's not easy. Organic farming means more risk. “Those who want unsprayed products must be willing to pay a higher price.” “We all want a product to be as clean as possible, but that's a challenge,” says Richard Kalter.

The production and export of pesticides banned in the EU constitutes a gross violation of human rights. As long as these companies continue to produce banned pesticides, people and the environment will continue to suffer worldwide. The banned pesticides come back on our plate via the large poison route. This has to stop.!
