La posición del gobierno de Biden la expuso Antony Blinken, secretario de Estado de Estados Unidos, quien refirió que "es posible retirar las sanciones con respecto a personas físicas y entidades o gobierno que tomen medidas significativas para restablecer el orden democrático".
Durante una conferencia de prensa, Blinken recordó que las sanciones no son permanentes.
Entre las medidas requeridas por la administración de Biden está no participar en abusos de derechos humanos y expresar su inconformidad con los abusos cometidos.
