#yoorslocalnews The government in power of Venezuela announces 4- and up to 9-hour power cuts in several states of the country.
Energy Minister Nestor Reverol announced that the power outages are due to repairs and maintenance of the electricity grid that supplies the west of the country.
The states affected by this measure are:
Zulia, Tachira, Merida, Trujillo, Barinas, Portuguesa, Apure and Lara.
In the state of Zulia, the city of Maracaibo, the second most important in the country, is located.
The west of the country is fed by the El Guri dam, one of the country's hydroelectric power plants, but it is not enough, it is supported by thermoelectric plants, but as a result of poor management and little maintenance of these plants, they are not able to operate at 100%.
The national government indicated that this will improve by the end of this month and the beginning of April.
