Queen's paw spotted on our butterfly bush
I was sitting outside this afternoon after work when I suddenly saw a beautiful butterfly on our butterfly bush. Quickly grabbed my cell. Unfortunately because of my fast action I had the phone set traffic afterwards which (I think so) makes the pictures a bit too light and vague.
Bit of a shame, but I like them anyway.

I looked up something about this remarkably beautiful butterfly with its yellow black drawing.
The name of this butterfly is: Crown (Papilio machaon)
It is one of the largest butterflies in Belgium and the Netherlands.
The caterpillar of the queen page is black at first, with a white spot, at the last stage the caterpillar can grow up to 50 mm and is green, with black, white and orange spots
Rarity
A fairly scarce state butterfly that is observed mainly in the southern half of the country. In recent years, more and more reports have been coming from the rest of the Netherlands, up to the Wadden Islands. The number of copies per year varies.
The queen's paw is 50 to 75 mm in size.
The wings have predominantly yellow colours and also a striking black-yellow drawing with blue accents, a red spot on the rear wing and an elongated, black coloured wing appendage called the wing tail or slip. The queen's paw has a very large distribution area compared to other butterflies.
What does the queen's paw eat?
The queen's paw uses its long walkway to suck up nectar. They like the nectar of all kinds of herbs, such as red clover, butterfly bush and arable thistle.

Prachtig zijn ze. Heb er vorig jaar een voor het eerst van mijn leven gezien. Wil de foto's daarvan nog steeds eens in een blog verwerken.

Wauw.... wat een prachtig vlinderexemplaar. Ik heb al vele vlinders in mijn leven gezien, ook in diverse vlindertuinen geweest, maar dit soort heb ik nog nooit gezien.
