Rainbows are unique and beautiful. You simply feel awestruck when you see a rainbow in the sky. If you look at it through an eye of a scientist, he will tell you that a rainbow appears when raindrops act as "tiny prisms".
When the White light from the sun shines on one side of a water droplet and is reflected off the other side then one can see a circular bow or arc of color that is broken up into the color spectrum.
A rainbow has around 1 million colors that can't be seen by the human eye, but we can see seven colors that are Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, and Violet.
But there is much more to a Rainbow than what we know. As a Christian, I know that the rainbow appears in the Bible at the end of the worldwide flood in Genesis 6-9. God was hurt and disappointed with humans due to their evil acts and decided to make rain for 40 days and nights which led to massive floods. Everyone and everything was killed except Noha, his family, and a few animals species that were put in the arc made by Noha.
“Behold, I establish my covenant with you and your offspring after you, and with every living creature that is with you, the birds, the livestock, and every beast of the earth with you, as many as came out of the ark; it is for every beast of the earth. I establish my covenant with you, that never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth… This is the sign of the covenant that I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for all future generations: I have set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and the earth. When I bring clouds over the earth and the bow is seen in the clouds, I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth” (Genesis 9:8-16, ESV).
I have seen rainbows in books but felt the love of God when I saw one right before my eyes. It reminded me of His promise to mankind. It was the most wonderful thing I had ever seen.
This picture was taken in October when I visited one of the hill stations in India with my family. It rained all night and the next morning when we woke up we saw this huge rainbow starting from one side of the hill and going all the way to the other side. It was bright and being on the hill it seemed so close to us. We could see all the colors clearly. I don't have the words to describe what I felt when I saw it in the sky. I closed my eye and thanked God for his promise.
