REINCARNATION
What is reincarnation
To incarnate means: 'getting into the flesh'. Reincarnation indicates that incarnation may occur several times, so it is a repetitive cycle of incarnations.
What is reincarnating
In various religions, it is stated that man has a soul. What exactly a soul actually s, no one really understands. The Books say that the soul comes from God and returns to God. Could it be that it is the 'soul' that incarnates?
Gnostics versus fides
The early Christians (first three centuries AD) were convinced of the existence of reincarnation. During the Council of Nicacea (325 AD.) however, reincarnation was prohibited by Church leaders. Early Christianity was based on Gnostics (mystical knowledge about the hidden nature of reality), later Christianity is based on fides (blind faith). In Gnostics, it is stated that man can become “alienated” from himself. People can forget who (or what) they really are. In John's Apocryphon, Jesus says, “Man, get up and remember yourself” — the redemption from enslavement of an ignorant existence in which man considers himself a victim of circumstances. Whoever remembers himself, as Jesus preached, is not a victim but a master of his circumstances.
Today's Christians ignore these words of Jesus, they are waiting (as they have been told) for Salvation, or the “rapture” as described in the books. That Salvation will occur during the Last Judgment. The (Christian) dead will then rise from their graves and miraculously get their bodies back. With body and all, they will then be taken up into Heaven to serve the Lord for eternity. At least that is the fides, the faith imposed on them by the Church.
