As Renesmee was enjoying herself, having forgotten about all of her responsibilities, her family was sitting in the family room of the Cullen family manor, chatting.
Esme exhaled, feeling elated, "Ah! Isn't it wonderful? It's a beautiful day outside! Renesmee must be having so much fun right now! I'm so glad she now goes to school and has friends!"
The family was quick to agree with her. To an outsider, it sounded as if Renesmee was a little girl in Elementary School. Little did they know about her fast ageing that had contributed to the lack of social experience the hybrid had. All her family desired for her was nothing but the best.
"Just weeks ago, she was moping around with her phone!", added Emmett. Rosalie wanted to shoot a look in his direction but realized he was right. Nowadays' youth did nothing with their lives, according to her, and to see her niece almost slip into that direction had been rather heartbreaking to her.
Jacob had also come over, but not to enjoy the weekend with the Cullens. Instead, he insisted on talking to them about his concerns. Despite the fact that Renesmee seemed to be improving her life drastically, it couldn't escape his mind the sight of her chatting to a stranger online. He needed to address this now or never. All he wanted was for his imprint to be safe and sound.
He quickly stood up from his seat and spoke, looking up:
"I knew about Renesmee chatting with strangers."
The whole family suddenly focused on him. He had known?! Then why hadn't he informed them earlier?
"I'm sorry. I should have told you earlier, but then Nessie started school and-", he was about to continue when Bella interrupted him, fury in her eyes:
"You knew about all of this and didn't tell us! How is this okay?!"
Edward was quick to calm her down, "Relax, love. I promise you, it's innocent. It's just on a rather strange website."
Bella sharply turned her head. Millions of thoughts were circulating in her mind and she couldn't focus properly on either of them. What kind of website? She was hoping it had nothing to do with adult content.
"It's a website for online therapy. It has individual chats and group chats as well... 7Cups I believe was the name of it?", Edward explained.
And then he remembered. He had heard Jasper mentioning it once. He turned to him to face his brother, "Isn't 7Cups the platform you work on?"
Jasper raised his eyebrow, "Yes? What are you trying to imply?"
Everything suddenly clicked. The pieces of the puzzle had been put together. Jasper remembered that rainy day - weeks ago - when Renesmee had come to his office and had insolently attempted to peek at his confidential work. Little did he know how she had truly snuck into the office and had gotten what she had wanted.
Anger boiled in Jasper's dead vampiric body. He had told Renesmee not to do anything stupid that day and here she was - having violated the privacy of not only Jasper's client but the therapist himself.
Jasper could barely wait for his niece to come home. As soon as the Cullens heard the Hatzi's minivan approaching, they rushed to restrain the empath, before he could do anything he would regret later.
Renesmee hadn't even entered the house yet when she had been greeted by the view of the whole family attempting to hold her uncle and to stop him. He didn't want to attack his own niece, he loved her to death, but he had made too many mistakes in the past and the family would never forget them for the rest of eternity. They were terrified that he would harm her.
"How could you do such thing?!", was the first sentence that came out of his mouth as soon as Rosalie had removed her palm from his mouth, "Have you no shame? Do you not know the meaning of 'confidential'? Or 'privacy'? But why - of course, you won't! Because your parents spoiled you and turned you into a bratty child who can't understand it when somebody says 'no'! Your behaviour that day was disgusting!", he roared.
And suddenly nothing could be heard anymore. Not even a pin dropping on the ground. All eyes were on Renesmee, hers being full of tears, clouding her vision. Her uncle Jasper's words hurt. And they hurt because they were the truth. She had become a spoiled teenager. And she had made too many mistakes that she wasn't going to acknowledge as such until much later in the future when she was older and more experienced.
Right now, she thought the adults were the evil ones and that she was in the rights. Of course, she would. She was young. She hadn't been on the planet for long enough.
"Renesmee...", Jasper attempted to apologize, but it was too late. His niece, already in tears, had dashed off to her bedroom.
