Requiem: Chapter 18
The senator was working late. She had just looked at her watch and saw it was almost midnight. Another half hour she promised herself. The time after office hours she usually filled with reading the reports sent to her via coded mail from De Basement. In a distant past, she had once been married, but that was the biggest mistake she had made in her life. One could not serve two gentlemen and absolutely no two lovers. Certainly not if the first one was a nice man who expected to be home at least a couple of nights a week. This husband also demanded if she could have dinner with him those evenings while talking away the burdens of her day-to-day task. She didn't need a mouthpiece for her problems. Such a man had to face her greatest passion in every way. Her more than attractive and seductive job that was her only and true love! No, in her life there was no place for a husband. Fortunately, her short marriage had remained childless.
She opened an encrypted mail that just came in by typing the inbox into her projected computer image.. After decoding, she saw that it was a mail without any appeal. From that she knew the message came from Jack Sterlington.
