Requiem: Chapter 25
After the visit to Gerekko we were stranded at Stephen in Oji. By the way, Gekko preferred to be alone when he went to a new assignment and our presence, even if it was well-intentioned, would only injure and distract him.. Did I know from experience! Before we each went to our home, we wanted to make sure that everything was okay with Stephen. If someone had to stay with him after the emotional moments of the last few days? Hardly fifteen minutes later, we had just decided that our friend from the Old World was fighting enough again and we could leave him alone without worries, we heard a rumble in the hallway.
A staccato knocking on the door scare us out of our minds. The sound of problems! Stephen looked at me shocked. Eagle Eye and Ji Lang bounced right out of their seat. Maybe it was someone from the embassy for Stephen, it shot me in the head. However, my sixth sense that has been working overtime lately told me something completely different. I whispered something in Stephen's ear and he nodded. Together with Eagle Eye and Ji, we hid in Stephen's bedroom and kept as quiet as possible. I was hoping Stephen could deter the visitor, otherwise we could see how it ended.. We heard him open the door.
“Security Service, Mr. March. Open the door please!'A short pause probably where the men's votes legitimized themselves. “Chief Inspector Norino Vastai asks kindly but emphatically if you would like to come with us to answer some questions. We had to inform you that new elements have emerged in the file of the killer on your half-sister Suzy Chang.. He proposes to go through it with you.’
Stephen tried to disregard Norino Vastai's request and promise that he would come by the headquarters the next day, but the men insisted. “Okay, if there's no other way, I'll just take my vest.“Apparently, Stephen saw no other way than to go with us without compromising our safety and having to explain why we were hiding in the bedroom. If the men suspected misguidance and examined the apartment, then we hung and would have a lot to explain. Stephen, on the other hand, found himself where he was supposed to be, in his own apartment at the Oji Hotel. We heard some mumbling and a chair shifting. Probably the chair on which Stephen's vest hung and then followed a pressing silence. We waited for at least ten minutes before we opened the door of the bedroom as silently as possible and to our reassurance noticed that everyone had indeed left.
