It's a trend coming back! You've probably seen it come by on instagram: People make cute things out of resin. So artificial resin. That sounds complicated, but it's not. In this post I will explain how you can craft with artificial resin yourself.

There are 2 types of resin that are tinkered with.

-Epoxy resin
This becomes hard after mixing 2 parts and then leave for 24 hours to a few days. How long it takes before it hardens is on the packaging.

-UV resin
This resin becomes hard by UV light. So, by leaving it in the sun for a long time, or putting it under a UV lamp for a few minutes.

I just buy my epoxy resin at the pipoos! That is easy. It is less expensive than UV resin, but you buy a lot more.

UV resin I buy online, on mIaturesweet - Yes. That's a webshop based in Hong Kong. That sounds like it's far away, and expensive, and that it will take a long time for your order to arrive, but I've already ordered from them a lot and usually it only takes a few days before my order arrives. EVEN without track and trace.

For your resin you need a mold, for that I refer you to mIaturesweet - Yes. After mixing the epoxy resin (you don't have to use it with UV resin, you can use it right out of the bottle) pour it into the mold. You can do this in layers, to make depth, but you don't have to. By itself, resin is usually transparent, so you can add stickers, glitter, pigment, and other things to it. For that kind of necessities you can also check out miniature sweet, there is per catagory what they all have. And browsing through it always gives new inspiration.

For UV resin it is important that your mould is transparent, because otherwise the light will not be able to pass through it, and the resin will not become hard either. At mIaturesweetit is always there when molds can be used for UV resin.

Below are some things I made of resin, with stickers and glitter. But you can make whatever you want! For example, use once dried flowers.
