Review: Jewish Hollywood and Censorship by Adrian Stahlecker

When you see the cover of Jewish Hollywood and Adrian Stahlecker's censorship, you want to know who the woman on the cover is and what her background is. It is unfortunate that the photo was not placed a little smaller on the cover, so that the photo would have fallen exactly between the words “Jewish” and “Hollywood” instead of the word “Jewish” partly falling across the actress's face, as is the case today. The red bar with the word “censored” is well placed. The title makes you curious about the book, you want to know exactly how it works. The photos in the book complete the book.
Jewish Hollywood and Adrian Stahlecker's censorship tells the history of Hollywood, how Hollywood came to be, and how it grew into today's film industry. Hollywood appears to have been around for a shorter period of time than many people might think and it all started with shows in backrooms. Many Jewish immigrants had arrived in the United States on shoes and slippers and made their living primarily from trade. At one point, the Jewish immigrants discovered that they could also earn money making movies.
