Review: Roommates by Aglaia Bouma

When you see the beautiful cover of Roommates by Aglaia Bouma, you already get an idea of what the book will be about. The title suggests otherwise than what the book is really about. It is a strong title, because you can indeed see what the book is about as desirable and unwanted roommates. The subtitle shows exactly what you can expect from the book. The photos and drawings complete the book, although it would have been nice if there had been more photos of the insects, such as an insect trap, so you can see what it looks like and a photo of a white sheet with insects on it, which is talked about a few times in the book, but also of other insects that are not in the book but are talked about.
Aglaia Bouma's roommates are not about human roommates, what you initially think of when you read the title, but about roommates who would rather see people go than come, that give a lot of people the jitters, but about insects that you can find in and around your home, which are many, more than many people think.
