When you see the beautiful cover of Tears in Bed Around Ukraine by Rox van der Helm, you immediately know whether or not the book is written in. The title speaks for itself, you know right away what the book will be about.
In Tears in Bed for Ukraine, Rox van der Helm describes the first fifty days of the war in Ukraine. She talks about how she feels, how she deals with the war, how she struggles with it, how she is annoyed with other people. She closely follows every news report about the war in Ukraine and gives her views on it, knows how to substantiate her opinion very well. What does she think sounds credible and what doesn't, and how does she see it? She regularly holds up a mirror to the reader, shows how well we are doing compared to the people in Ukraine and what everyone could do, but sometimes gets carried away, as if someone else shouldn't worry about anything else. She also occasionally holds up a mirror, such as her naivety about sexual violence during the war. She looks at the war from various angles. What is special is that she has contact with various people who are experiencing the war closely and has incorporated their eyewitness reports into the book.
