Review: The Encounter of 2022

When they see the beautiful cover of The Encounter of 2022, those who are familiar with the place on the Wadden Island of Vlieland will immediately know where the photo was taken. It is nice that part of 2022 has been placed behind the house and not in front of it. What's also nice is that the cottage probably plays a role in one of the stories. The title makes you curious. You want to know who they met and why it's the 2022 meeting, what's so special about it. The stories can be read separately. You can decide which story to start with, which story to read next and which story to end with.
The encounter of 2022 is a collection of stories full of stories with the subject of 'encounter' and the stories all take place on the Wadden island of Vlieland. The stories show the many faces of Vlieland, both in the present and in the (distant) past. The stories are about various tourists who, for whatever reason, settle on Vlieland for a short time, and in some stories, a resident of Vlieland plays a role. They are all fictional stories, but each story could have really gone the way it did in the stories, like the story of a mother whose child did something really bad, to say the least.
