Las personas con síndrome de tourette realizan movimientos o sonidos fuera de lo normal, llamados tics comunes sin parpadear y carraspear. Es posible que repitan las palabras, gire o rara vez diga palabras groseras repentinamente.
El síndrome de tourette es un trastorno del sistema nervioso. Suele ocurrir con otros tales como, trastorno de atención con hiperactividad (TDAH), trastorno obsesivo compulsivo (TOC), ansiedad, depresión.
Se desconoce la causa del síndrome de tourette . Es mas común entre niños que entre las niñas. Los tics suelen comenzar en la infancia y pueden empeorar al inicio de la adolescencia.
No se necesita tratamiento a menos que los tics interfieran con la vida cotidiana. El entusiasmo o la preocupación pueden empeorar los tics. Las actividades tranquilas y focalizadas suelen mejorar los síntomas. Las medicinas y las terapias de conversación también pueden ayudar.

I have a great co-worker who has him and leads a normal life, he is aware of his situation but does therapy and tries not to get stressed so that he does not get those “attacks” of snapping or ringing his fingers and he even jokes us telling us to lower him 2 to intensity or his tourette side will appear.
