Scheme securing income of all employees

On Tuesday 31 March 2020, Minister Wouter Koolmees of the Ministry of Social Affairs and Employment announced that from Monday 6 April 2020 a scheme will be active to safeguard the employment and income of employees.

The emergency measure only applies to companies with a demonstrable loss of turnover. Companies will receive an advance payment after their application and afterwards the amount of compensation should actually be determined.

The UWV is entrusted with the implementation of this compensation scheme.

In this difficult period, wage compensation for companies is the least that the government can do to positively influence health, jobs and employment, and the interests of flex workers are also safeguarded by this scheme.

The scheme, which is the same for each employer and employee, is expected to give clarity to all employers and employees.

The advances, which can be requested from 1 March 2020, will be paid by the UWV within four to six weeks.

The moral responsibility of every Dutchman must prevent the use of fraud. Therefore, the verification of the correctness of the applicant's data will be checked retrospectively.
