Shooting Stars Fall

The contemplation of shooting stars is one of the most beautiful shows that the sky gives us.

It is said that the meteors that lit up the sky were not counted by thousands, but by hundreds of thousands. Such was the magnitude of this beautiful event that those who witnessed this compared the situation with the fall of snowflakes.

In 1833 the rains of stars were still a phenomenon unknown to humanity.

Surprisingly, on this date there is the most surprising fall of shooting stars that is known. From nine o'clock in the evening until sunrise, it was watched along the east coast of North America. Some of the stars had the brightness of Jupiter or Venus; and it was impossible to count them, because of their abundance. However, when the phenomenon declined, one observed attempted an approximate calculation; in about fifteen minutes, and in a tenth of the sky, it counted 866 shooting stars, which would give about 8,660 for the entire visible hemisphere and 34,640 for the span of one hour. The star fall lasted about seven hours.
