#Tilburg opens in 1932 a #Dierentuin .
This zoo was it #weddinggift by Mr Burgers ( #Burges Zoo) to his daughter and her #Tilburgse spouse.

But what I found about it was, especially before then, a very nice zoo with a variety of #dieren.

But that's not what I want to talk about now, although I think it's #interessant and this former zoo is directly due to the beautiful fact that #Siberische #grondeekhoorntjes is now living in the wild in Tilburg's forest, the only place in #Nederland,.

The story has two versions, where I find one more beautiful and more plausible than the other.
It seems that all the animals from the former zoo were sold to another zoo, but because the #siberiangroundsquirrel being underground, or her, hibernating, would they have forgotten these.
Then the animal wakes up in the spring, comes out #hibernation and must have looked around. Uh. #Vrijheid :-)

But another version of the ground squirrel story seems more plausible to me.
During the #verhuis, the #eekhoorntjes would have been in a coffin. Then they would have dropped this chest, after which some of these #supersnelle bugs would be #ontsnapt.
It would have been thought that they couldn't get them caught after all and that they wouldn't #overleven during the #winterkou.
But nothing could be further from the truth. And luckily.

Today, we are talking about 50 years later, the animal still lives in the same forest area.
So he seems to be having a great time and is flourishing there. There is everything the animal needs in the forest. Plenty of nuts, acorns and other food. Enough rest to hibernate, and plenty of attention from the #fotograaf -)
