My wife just sent me a link to a YouTube video that she had recently viewed in a training session and thought I may enjoy it. It was a success in the end. It's so good that it's worth passing on.

Begin with WHY you're doing what you're doing (rather than WHAT and HOW), which enables you to attract people who share your views and encourage them to act on that shared sense of purpose.

There are two types of leaders:

Those who lead via their position of power and authority and those who inspire us. The latter is more effective since it teaches us to do things for ourselves. And that is a significant objective.

By connecting with your mission, you may be real and become a more "sticky" leader, as your followers will demonstrate their commitment to their ideals, not just to you.

"People don't buy what you do; they buy why you do it," Simon Sinek once said. What you do is simply evidence of your beliefs."

Simon Sinek is a leadership specialist and the author of the book "Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Action." He also lectures at Columbia University, where he teaches Strategic Communications.
