Sinterklaas beard tinkering with filling chips
You know that packaging material, those crazy wokels? They're called filler chips, but you can't eat them. They are used to fill boxes for firmer shipping. You know what else you can do with it? Making the beard of Saint Nicholas! The fun Sinterklaas are made by the youngest toddlers at Miss Mieke and this idea can be shared with you. Because say yourself, the Sintjes look super funny, and you can hang them on a clothesline or you can staple it to a children's hat. That looks festive and the Saint will feel very welcome!

The head of Saint is a paper cake edge, which is painted with pale pink or skin color paint. do not you have a cake edge? Then a paper plate will also be fine, and otherwise take solid paper that you cut in a circle. Cut the top of the cake edge and fold over the cut part, that is the hairs of the Saint! (of course, just stick with glue).

The miter is made of red paper, punctured by the toddlers with puncture pen and puncture mat. Of course, cutting can also be done. A golden cross is made of 2 strips of gold-colored wrapping paper/foil. The filling chips can be glued with glue, transparent all slime is suitable for this. Do not use paper glue, watery white craft glue or sticky pen, because that does not stick enough. You can also staple the chips with a stapler, as is done here at Miss Mieke.

Have you also made a Sinterklaas (or Pietje) from filling chips? Then we would like to see them! Send the photo to ilse@deknutseljuf.nl, if the photo can be placed here. Because we all want to welcome Saint Nicholas with the most beautiful homemade crafts! That makes Saint very happy, that's for sure!
