Making a horse out of papier-mâché, with wool as a mane, that's funny! It doesn't just have to be fun as a Santa Claus surprise. It's also nice to just craft a horse, because you just want it. Because you like horses. And crafting. And because you have a balloon in the house, and you want to do something with it. You always have a piece of cardboard (from a box). And four plastic or cardboard cups? I bet you have that too!

Stick 4 cups with painting tape (paper adhesive tape) as legs under a balloon.

Cut 2 x a horse's head out of cardboard. Stick them together, except at the bottom. The ends of the neck stick to either side of the balloon.

Paste the whole with strips of newsprint and wallpaper paste. It's called papier-mache. Make several layers of paper and allow to dry in between. The more layers the firmer it gets.

Paint your horse with acrylic paint. Stick to it a saddle or reins of felt/fabric/fake. Stick with wool beautiful mane that you could braid. And, of course, a cheerful. Long tail.
