According to reports by the American Lung Association, there are around 3,900 young people who try smoking for the first time. Out of this number, 950 become daily smokers. One of the main reasons why teens smoke is because smoking is portrayed as a social norm in music videos, movies, and adverts. If teens see their parents smoke, they are also likely to try smoking.

People who start smoking at an early age are prone to coughs. The lungs are damaged and the coughs become frequent if you continue smoking. According to research, this doesn’t cause permanent damage to your lungs because they can function normally again within 10-15 years. Smoking doesn’t not only affect your lungs but also your skin. Teens who smoke are prone to fine wrinkles or leathery skin on the forehead and cheeks. But if they stop smoking, this might stop. Teens who smoke are also likely to indulge in drinking alcohol and using other drugs as well. Other effects include:
