Smoking as a Teenager: Health Risks
Smoking cigarettes in developing countries constitutes a public health problem whose onset generally occurs in teenagers, a situation that culminates in the fact that in adulthood more than half of its components have a tobacco habit.
Tobacco is as addictive as a pure drug since it is a psychoactive product that affects the chemical processes of the brain and the nervous system. It also has recognized harmful chemicals effects on the respiratory system, seriously damaging the bronchi and lungs, causing chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and lung cancer are some health consequences.
The problem is that the earlier you start smoking cigarettes (teen smoking), the earlier the diseases appear according to the mental health services administration and the American lung association.
It is considered urgent that health professionals in disease control find effective strategies to reduce tobacco consumption in young people, so that in the future they will be adults with a good quality of life, manage to have healthy children, and be multiplying agents of lifestyles without tobacco.

According to the World Health Organization, smoking continues to be responsible for the deaths of around 6 million people worldwide each year. Tobacco consumption is a global problem with almost a billion men and 250 million women who smoke on the planet. It is estimated that between 82,000 and 99,000 young people start smoking every day.
