Snakeweed, known by the scientific name Echium vulgare , is a remarkable plant that is common in Europe. With its vibrant blue to purple flowers, it attracts the attention of both people and bees.
This plant, which belongs to the roughleaf family (Boraginaceae), is not only beautiful to look at, but also has a rich history and numerous useful properties.

Appearance and places of growth

Snakeweed is easily identified by its hairy stems and leaves, as well as the distinctive flower spikes that bloom throughout the summer. The flowers have a unique funnel shape and often change from pink to blue as they mature, adding to their charm. This plant thrives in dry, sunny conditions and is often found in vacant lots, along roads and on calcareous soils.
