The social security system in the Netherlands has two different types: social insurance and social benefits. Social insurance (employee insurance and national insurance) is mandatory and everyone is entitled to it, if you fall under it. If you have a job, you are entitled to a benefit under the law and social insurance policies if you become unemployed. Social benefits, on the other hand, are of a complementary nature and are therefore not compulsory for everyone. #coronacrisis #coronavirus #socialevoorziening #gemeente

Different types of social insurance

Everyone has the right to social insurance. This is because everyone pays for it, too. In the case of employee insurance, the insurance premium is deducted from the employer. Employer (and partly the employee) is responsible for the payment of contributions for employee insurance. For 2006, these premiums were paid to the UWV. Now these are paid through the payroll tax of the #Belastingdienst - Yes. The premiums for the public insurance are deducted through the Tax Administration. Do you have a job and you become #werkeloos , you are entitled to an employee insurance because you have paid for it yourself.
