Soundfactory: a journey of discovery into the world of sound art.
It #Concertgebouw van Bruges is not only an architectural masterpiece.
The whole building was erected in function of sound.
It rests on 4 696 springs, making it one of the world's top acoustics.
I like to go there with my class group to let them discover the world of sound and sound.
In the photo below they are looking out over the historic city #Brugge , where it is bustling with life.
Behind this glass, however, no sound can be seen from the outside: no cars, no noise of drilling from the works below, no bustling city life, no bird.

In the chamber music hall they discover that the smallest sound can be heard equally well everywhere, thanks to the modifications to chairs and walls.
They are allowed to experiment with sounds: sound of copper, tree whackers, wood...
They learn to work with a 'real' conductor and discover that sound consists of vibrations.

They discover a real concert hall, with almost 1 300 seats, where they marvel at the size of the stage.
Here, too, the backrests of the chairs and the wooden slats on the walls and frames provide optimum sound.
