Sparkle but otherwise sweet child.

I see your gaggy eyes.
I see your cute dimples.
I see your sweet laugh.
I see a happy child.

But nothing is what it seems. I also see the pain cloaked in a mask full of innocence. I see what others don't see.
The pain you bear, literally and figuratively.
Fear that you carve every second of your life, wary of evil there in that big evil world.
But that big angry world isn't who you think it is. At least not what you hoped for.
The person you're supposed to look up to, who's supposed to protect you, who likes to see you, is that big evil that you have to be wary of.
The one who makes your cute dimples full of tears. The one who often hits your eyes fur and blue. The one who keeps making your sweet smile go away. The one who tries to take away your sparkle, every day, by representing himself as the mighty omnipotent who unleashes his frustrations on you.

You're so young

Behind that mask of joy, is a lonely child, 5 years old, whose 5 full years are marked by fear, anger, violence and grief. Loneliness in a child whose sparkle will never completely extinguish. Impotence. not knowing that the years that follow it would be much heavier and that so far, life would still be a fairy tale compared to what is yet to come.

There is also something in place that will come in handy for you decades later. I wish you could see it back then. The belief in being happy, the belief in a beautiful world, even if you don't quite know what it should look like, the belief in yourself, the sparkle you will never give off, to anyone who will hurt you in the years to come. Even if it's the dark, which prevails for years to come.
Sparkle but otherwise sweet child, sparkle but beyond.
