Summer in France - day 14: Notre Dame de Beauregard at Orgon
Although it is almost 30 degrees, there is a strong wind again. The 'mistral' makes it feel much fresher. Ideal hiking weather! Do we think...
The plan is to visit the caves of Calès. They are located in the hills behind the church of the municipality of Lamanon and have been inhabited from pre-history.
We park our car and want to start the climb on foot. A sign at the beginning of the hiking trail attracts our attention. It's a sign with info about fire hazard, as you can see here on just about all the hiking trails. Unfortunately there is code red on it, which means it is forbidden to go on the hiking trail. It has a number and a QR code for more information. The phone number does not answer and the QR code lets us end up on advertising. Since there are serious penalties for ignoring this red code and we do not want to take unnecessary risks, we return.
We decide to walk to a small church, high on a hill closer to our residence to enjoy the view: Notre Dame de Beauregard. Since we now come from a different side and drive in the right direction, we do not get to the place where we saw the trail start a few days ago, but we drive higher, while the road becomes narrower and narrower.
Eventually we arrive at the very top of the church of Notre Dame de Beauregard.
