The sun of the week, what is that?

It is a reward system that can be applied at home or at school. A kind of “Employee of the Week” but with children:) at school.

The child is the sun, for example he/she is in the sun all week. The idea behind it is that you give a child compliments that let a child shine with his/her good qualities.

Jufjudith.nl describes this way very nicely:
Compliments give to each other and to each other. Something I think is very important. Students need to learn how to give a compliment, but also how to receive a compliment. I always think the sun of the week before is an appropriate form of work.

How does it work?

Every week, one student in the group is central. The student receives all kinds of compliments on one day a week when he or she is in the sun. Often I put these students in the middle of the class {on the teacher stool} so that it feels really special. I always let the student choose who gives the compliments. I also want every student to receive eight compliments from eight different students.

All these compliments are written down and get a place on the sun of this student. The nice thing is that you can shape this sun in many ways. Below is an example of a sun, as it can be made. But you can also find fun ideas on Pinterest. When the sun is off, it will of course get a place in the classroom where it can be seen for the rest of the school year.
