Estos, son un grupo de situado en Egipto, de Cristianos Coptos, los cuales son reconocidos mundialmente por su gran labor en la recolección de basura en la ciudad de El Cairo, durante más de 50 años.

Este grupo está dispersado en varias regiones que comprenden El Cairo.

Esta comunidad ha organizado un sistema de recolección y reciclaje muy eficaz, y sobre todo, muy comprometido, en el cual ellos mismos se encargan de recoger la basura de puerta en puerta, por lo general, de manera gratuita, material que luego pasa a ser transportado con ayuda de camiones o carros tirados por burros.

Luego pasa a clasificarse por lo general con la ayuda de puercos que alimentan y crían, y al final venden los materiales clasificados.

El grupo Zabbaleen goza de fama mundial en el tema del reciclaje, logrando reutilizar entre un 80% y 85% de los residuos, y es considerada una de las comunidades con mayor índice y eficacia de reciclaje en el mundo.
