Sweetener and carbohydrates is a bad combination

#Gezondheid Have artificial #zoetstoffen an effect on the brain? In which way we get them, it turns out very decisive. The artificial sweetener sucralose has no effect on sugar balance in itself, but when consumed in combination with carbohydrates it does. Then it reduces the sensitivity of the body to the hormone insulin, which regulates blood sugar, and tempers the reaction of the brain to a sweet taste. That's what brain researchers from the American Yale University write this week in the scientific journal Cell Metabolism.

But whether artificial sweeteners have positive effects on sugar and body weight or not, is a controversial issue. There are studies that show that, but also studies in which people just gain weight and get diabetes. Current research suggests that the combination with other carbohydrates can make this difference.
