#ZONSONDERGANG 😍 The Meppelerdiep is a canal that runs from Meppel to Zwartsluis, where it flows into the Black Water.

The Meppelerdiep forms the bottom of three rivers (namely the Wold Aa, the Reest and the Beilerstroom) and was originally a natural waterway, formerly called the Sethe. The name Sethe can still be found in the Zedemuden Pumping station, which is named after a settlement disappeared in the waves at the mouth of the Sethe. The Meppelerdiep now connects the Drentsche Hoofdvaart and the Hoogeveense Vaart (two channels with some importance for shipping) with the IJsselmeer and is important for the water management in Drenthe.
