The difference between teasing and bullying

In the upcoming posts, I would like to include you in a number of lessons on teasing and bullying and what impact this can have on children and adults as well. Regularly bullying is not yet recognized or too late. Signals are not always caught immediately. Bullying also usually starts from teasing and then getting bigger and bigger until it escalates. If it escalates, it can be so bad that consequences cannot be overseen.

It's easier to say that teasing generally happens with a good intention. It is not intended to damage or shut out another person. Rather, it is meant to be a sign of affection and acceptance: 'you belong to us'. In pests, it is true that this happens over and over again. Teasing is meant to be a joke that can generally be laughed about. In bullying, not so much the act itself is central, but more its intention. The most well-known forms of bullying include:

• Physical: kicking, pushing, squeezing or hitting.

• Verbal: name, insult, threaten, or ridicul.
