The children should learn to thank properly when they get something, so I think it should be.
When they get a candy in a store, they say “thank you.”
If they get anything new, thank you kindly.
If anyone does anything for you, thank you very much.

From the moment they can talk, I'm trying to get that in. It works, because it's already well ingrained.
Sometimes they forget it, and then my firm sentence is, “What do you say?”
That's enough to wake them up again.

I am very passionate about this task: showing gratitude is just important, I think. Except sometimes I get too much into my role.

We'll fill up some gas and drive to the counter to pay off. Cees hangs out of the window and hands over the money. The lady takes it, counts out the change and gives it to Cees.
Next thing I know, the words are going out of my mouth, “..., and what do you say?” #tanken #wisselgeld
