Mounting and sealing corrugated roof
A roof made of corrugated sheets is ideal for sealing a gazebo, carport or, for example, an animal house. In this article, we will explain step-by-step how to mount and seal a roof made of corrugated sheets.
Supplies:
- Corrugated
- Corrugated bolts (5 screws per m2)
- Sealing profile
- Endcam
- Corners
Step 1: Making a supporting structure
Determine the bearing structure of the roof. Is the roof to be covered with corrugated sheets shorter than 1.5 meters long? Then it is not necessary to mount another intermediate beam. Is the corrugated sheet you use to seal the roof longer than 1.5 meters? Then it is necessary to work with intermediate purlins.
Overall, consider 1 intermediate bar per corrugated sheet. Only from a length of more than 2 meters it is recommended to use 2 intermediate beams for the roof structure. Make the supporting structure horizontal.
The roof slope should be about 14-57 degrees, for draining water. So, also take this into account when determining the length of the corrugated sheet.
Step 2: Lay the corrugated sheets on the roof structure
Lay the first corrugated sheet in the left corner on the roof structure. Always in the opposite direction of the beam structure. After this, lay the next corrugated sheet on the roof. Take into account an overlap of 15-20 cm. Do not walk directly on the corrugated sheets to avoid damage.
Step 3: Screwing the corrugated sheets
Determine the location of the screws, by pre-drilling at the highest point of the wave. Do not pre-drill in the valley!
Due to the drainage of water into the valley, there is a risk of damage. When pre-drilling, always keep a slightly larger hole, because corrugated sheets work.
Screw the corrugated sheet first on the second wave, and on the penultimate wave with the corresponding corrugated bolts.
Location of the screws:
- At the overlap between corrugated sheets on each wave
- On the wall beam and end bar on each wave
- If there is no overlap, but there is an intermediate belt: on the intermediate belt around the wave.
Step 4: Sealing corrugated sheets
Sealing the corrugated sheets with a sealing profile. Placing the filling strip between the ridge and roofing sheets. If necessary, finish the roof with an end ridge and a corner piece.
Corrugated sheets are available in various materials, such as fiber cement, steel or bitumen. Here are some corrugated sheets at a low price of high quality for mounting a corrugated roof
