El Batey and El Azucarero's largest in Venezuela
The population of Batey was formed approximately in the second decade of the twentieth century in 1917, as a result of the action of the sugar company Venezuela Sugar Company which later became known as Central Venezuela.

Both the company and the new settlement grew greatly between 1935 and 1950, when homes, roads, church, cinema, market, and others were built, largely with sugar resources..



In the Zulia State's Territorial Political Division Act 1995 El Batey was recognized as a parish of the municipality of Sucre.

In 1966 the company was bought by the Brillembourg family and in 2009 it was expropriated and now belongs to the Venezuelan state under the name of Complejo Agroindustrial Azucarero Venezuela.

According to studies that I did more than 10 years ago when I studied high school, in a project about this population of the Municipality to which I belong, The word batey comes from the islands of the Caribbean, where the Tainos family resided. Originally a batey was a kind of court where a ceremonial ball game was practiced.

In the town of Batey there is a representative icon and it is the monument that represents parts of the machinery that were once used to make sugar, others say it is a water pump, other theories is that this was the medium they used at the beginning of the twentieth century to bring the materials to work that a train arrived says there were the rails where they passed.

Here I share a photograph of mine in this monument part of the history of the nineteenth or twentieth century since it is not exactly known because it was at the end of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century, since they were several years of construction, roads, headquarters, medicaturas, pharmacy, among others more.
